Background

  • The client is an engineering consultancy specialising in oil and gas, mining and renewable energy.

  • The client was advising an Australian port on their long-term port development plan and approached Drewry to assess the development of vessel sizes for different classes of vessel.

Client Objectives

  • To provide an analysis of current and future vessel sizes for Methylcyclohexane (MCH), toluene, ammonia, liquid hydrogen.

  • To provide current and future vessel size development of container ship.

  • To estimate the vessel size forecast of the Australian port (short and long-term).

Drewry Approach

  • This was a desktop study, gather, synthesising and analysing data collected from multiple sources, including but not limited to Drewry’s internal database, third-party platform and data provided by the target port.

  • Drewry identified suitable vessel sizes by analysing the trade growth, the historical fleet evolution, approval in principle in different shipping segments and ongoing technological advancement in shipping.

Results Achieved

  • Drewry presented a detailed report outlining the forecasted vessel demand and vessel sizes for the required sectors.
